Golf Rangefinder – Precision Pro Golf NX7 – Ideal Laser Range Finder

This golf rangefinder is a direct competitor to the Bushnell Tour V4 Shift Golf Laser Rangefinder but is considerably cheaper. The Precision Pro Golf NX7 Pro Laser Range Finder uses an angle compensation feature called “Adaptive Slope Technology”.  This is a similar feature to Bushnell’s slope technology employed in the Tour V4.

The NX7 Pro’s slope mode will display angle compensated distances helping you select the right club on uphill and downhill shots. There could be a 5 to 20-yard difference in shot length using the NX7 Pro’s slope measurement feature.

The mode button lets you toggle between slope and non-slope. The display indicates “M1” is non-slope tournament legal mode. In slope mode, it displays “M2”

Similar to the Bushnell Tour V4  Pinseeker Jolt system the NX7 Pro employs a pulse vibration technology which sends a quick body vibration when you’re locked on to the target.  This TAG system (Target Acquisition Technology)  scans your field of view and locks in on the target. It ignores targets in line of sight but behind the intended one to ensure you measure a precise distance. This, for example, would separate a flagpole distance from the trees close behind it.

Precision Pro NX7 Golf Laser Rangefinder

The NX7  TAG Technology is a "First Target" priority systemThe Precision Pro NX7 Golf Laser Rangefinder really hits that sweet spot where it provides the most desirable features as seen in premium competitor models but at a much better price point. It’s lightweight and feels good to grip in your hands. As you would expect from one of the best laser rangefinders it has excellent accuracy, good battery life,  x6 zoom, and target locking.

The NX7 laser rangefinder is relatively new on the market and is well priced. We think it is the best new rangefinder and a cheaper rival to the Bushnell Tour V4 Shift. It also challenges the VPRO500 from TecTecTec as the best value laser rangefinder for money.

Accurate TAG Technology and Easy to Use

The NX7  TAG Technology is a “First Target” priority system preventing the device from ranging objects in the background when you’re trying to hit a specific target. The NX7 is accurate to within one yard and can measure distances up to 400 yards.

Locking onto a target with the NX7 is done by pushing a button on the top of the device. This causes a targeting circle with crosshairs to appear in the display. Then centring the reticle on a flag, for example, you press the button again. The crosshairs then blink indicating the laser is active until a second or less later the distance to the target is displayed. The NX7’s pulse vibration gives a quick pulse verification when locked onto the target.

Speed Of Operation

The NX7 rangefinder acts fast! Some laser rangefinders are really slow and fiddly to gain lock and give accurate and reliable distances.  The Precision Pro NX7 reacts quickly to give a reading in a second or less after locking on to your intended target. It is notably quick!

6x Magnification + Multi-Coated Optics + Dual Distance Units

The NX7 golf rangefinder zoom is 6x which is more than some of the other competitive golf rangefinders. This zoom combined with good multi-coated optics also gives you a clear view of your target even at long distances. This also helps to better target lock the crosshairs on the flag pin, for example. With one push of a button, you can also measure in units of yards or meters.

NX7 Pro with Slope  Technology

using the NX7 Pro with Slope Technology for angle compensated readingsThe Precision Pro NX7 pro golf rangefinder differs from the standard NX7 by providing angle compensated ranges.  This can be very useful on a course that has large elevation changes, like a course on the side of a hill.

With slope mode engaged, the NX7  pro will read angle compensated actual horizontal distance to the flag pin. This can help club selection as the compensated range reading can differ from the LOS (line of sight) reading by as much as 20 yards.

Also, while this feature is not tournament legal it can easily be turned off, making it legal for tournament play where permitted. You could use the slope feature of this golf rangefinder, marking your ranges during practice rounds for each hole or obstacle on the course.

 Our Verdict

The Precision Pro NX7 golf laser rangefinder has all the features you need to improve your game.  It’s accurate, easy to use, durable, lightweight and cost effective. This is an ideal entry level golf laser rangefinder and we can’t find any downsides. Furthermore, it compares well with leading brand Bushnell and Leupold GX-2i3 models but at a fraction of the price. The Precision Pro NX7 really delivers and is probably the best golf rangefinder for the money.
